FFG COMET programme: PI Subproject "Imaging Biomarkers for vascular disease and vascular aging”, K1 Centre Tirol: VASCage-C (Centre for Promoting Vascular Health in the Aging Community)

Quantification of intracranial arterial calcification
Team:
Dr. med. univ. Philipp Deisl (PhD candidate); Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Astrid Grams, MBA; Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Elke Gizewski, MHBA
Cooperation: Department of Neurology, VascAge GmbH, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Lukas Neumann, Department of Technical Mathematics (Leopold-Franzens-Universität University, Innsbruck)

In this project, the calcification burden of supra-aortic and intracranial arteries is examined quantitatively and qualitatively, using various methods. The aim is to establish a risk stratification for the occurrence of stroke, associated complications, and prognosis by using this imaging biomarker.

Development of an automatic segmentation tool for supraaortal and intracranial arteries on MR-angiography.
Team:
Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. univ. Stephanie Mangesius, PhD; Dr. rer. nat. Sergiy Pereverzyev Jr.; Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Elke Gizewski, MHBA
Cooperation: Department of Neurology, VascAge GmbH, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Lukas Neumann, Markus Tiefenthaler (PhD candidate), Department of Technical Mathematics (Leopold-Franzens-Universität University, Innsbruck)

In this project, an automated, modality-independent deep learning-based method for the segmentation supra-aortic and intracranial arteries is being developed.

Imaging database for patients with one or multiple cardiovascular events.
Team:
Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. univ. Stephanie Mangesius, PhD; Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Astrid Grams, MBA; Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Elke Gizewski, MHBA, Cand. med. Benedikt Bachhuber; Cand. med. Viviana Messa, Cand med. Peter Triendl
Cooperation: Department of Neurology, VascAge GmbH

In this database project, imaging and clinical data of patients with one or multiple cardiovascular events are collected. From this database, various questions are investigated, such as the connection between the type of imaging and clinical outcomes, or potential influencing factors on the recurrence of a cardiovascular event.
