Tasks and Organization

The 3Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging device (Core Facility Neuroimaging Research, Neuroimaging Research Core Facility - NRCF) is an interdisciplinary research unit for neuroscience research. The use of the 3T-MRI center is open to all institutions of the university and the hospital that address neuroscientific questions. After evaluating their research project, researchers can use the 3T-MRI and this infrastructure- typically for studies involving volunteers and patients and, after consultation and guidelines from the hygiene officer, also for animal experiments.
Detailed usage regulations can be found here.
The allocation of usage times is based on scientific criteria and technical feasibility (available resources, technical feasibility, etc.), with a focus on neuroscience research.

Operation

The main operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. During this time, the operating technical staff (radiologic technologists, physicists) are available to conduct MR examinations. Outside these hours, measurements may only be performed in the presence of qualified personnel, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal regulations on radiation protection, occupational safety, fire protection, animal protection, accident prevention, and the guidelines for quality assurance in MRI.
An evaluation of the results and progress of conducted projects should occur at regular intervals. Every use of the 3T-MRI center must be documented.
